You are doing good work, so keep at it and protect what you’ve created so far. Your ancestors are with you, guiding you and helping you see the path beneath your feet. We are entering a full moon phase, so clarity (or at least some better kind of understanding) is coming. If you celebrate the ritual and spiritual side of Samhain (Halloween), you know that this Saturday evening is New Year’s Eve, and next Sunday the first of November is New Year’s Day. The Wheel is turning and the seasons are shifting from the phase of the sun to the phase of the moon. We are heading into darkness, but it’s a place where our wishes may be granted. Goodness is coming into being, and it’s important to see where our treasures lie. New treasures or treasures that we thought were long gone but have reappeared will be washing up from the depths and coming back to us for a second chance to work with them, so watch for those opportunities and take advantage of them when they arrive.
Our ancestors, our lives, come with baggage. This much is true for all of us. We are not pure good or pure evil; we have elements of both in our lives right now and in our ancestry. The trick is to emphasize and elevate the good and make amends for the evil as much as we can. Take steps toward forgiveness today where you can, and keep your mind set on the goodness you’re capable of. The heart is the key into our lineages, into our families and our history, so follow it. Let yourself love and grieve, and allow for the possibility of forgiveness where things are darkest. Be guided by your own pure heart, and not the crazy news and angry admonishments toward hate and fear coming at you from the Internet. Be good because you already are good.
Today is a good day for contemplation, my friends, or if you don’t have time for a good sit and think, then at least give yourself a few deep breaths as you’re running errands, doing chores, and otherwise getting things done. There is a balance in effect between standing firm in your convictions and collapsing into a shuddering heap of “give up and die.” Twilight is that time when it’s neither light nor dark. The day isn’t over yet, but night hasn’t begun yet either. You’re at a tipping point and can be pushed either way, into virtue or into ignominy. Don’t stress out too much if you feel like you’re falling into failing; a few small failures don’t mean you are a Golgothan Shit Demon. You have powerful allies on your side, and your ancestors are helping you more than you can know. Life is long (not just this one little life right now, but all the lives you’ve lived and all the lives you will live after this one). The critical thing is to not give up, even if you feel like you’re failing, and even if you have proof that you’ve failed. It’s ok. If you’re going through hell, as Winston Churchill once said, keep going. Don’t stop in failure. Keep moving toward virtue, and let yourself be guided by your own inner light. Oh, and while you’re going through hell, be really careful of what you pick up. That stuff has a way of sticking to you and you have to be careful.
Today’s draw is about the growth processes that happen in the dark. It’s ok that things aren’t clear right now, and sometimes we really do just have to keep going even though we have no idea what we’re doing or how it all fits into the grand plan. You are healing on multiple levels, and as much as you’d like to know exactly how all that healing is happening and what the healers are doing, you just can’t. Time to trust that things are happening, that you’re following an inner light even if it feels like all outer lights have gone out. Keep going, and listen for messages of encouragement beneath all the noise of modern life. And yes, your ancestors are helping.
Ok, yeah. Deep breath here. Talk to the dead, reach out to your ancestors for blessings and gather them up. You are protected by great good fortune, and you need to face those demons. Stand in courage and the strength of what you’ve learned so far, go into the places where your shadows live, and talk to them. You may not get the answers you want, but that’s no reason to be afraid. In fact, being afraid is absolutely the worst thing you could do. Let yourself feel how protected you are from both above and below, and face the dark with courage. Now is an important time to gather lessons from the dying year, to harvest what we’ve sown and to sift through what’s there worth keeping and what needs to go. Get moving.
Today’s draw is about letting go of grief and focusing on healing and moving forward. Grow into the new reality, the new way of being, and let yourself and the world around you be healed. What has passed on is now blossoming into something new in a way that is meant to be. Protect those weaker than you, and do your best to lift up those who are in need of help. You are being held by your Ancestors even if you can’t see or feel it. Get up and move. Don’t sit and wallow any more. It’s time to go.
Set your burdens down. Sort through them. Look at them from a bit of a distance, and you’ll see that they are not real. Give yourself the spaciousness that comes from quieting your mind. Breathe and relax. You are not alone. Seriously, look at the photo here: There is a key right in the middle of the prayer wheel for god’s sake. How much clearer does it need to be? Your powers are with you, protecting you, marveling at you a little bit. Let your mind relax and be free of its constraints. Write, speak, tell stories about what’s real for you. And let your faith be your shield.
Today’s draw seems kind of simple: be fierce and courageous in pursuit of your dreams, especially where money and other resources are involved. Be brave and tenacious, and fight as if the gods are on your side (because They are). Pay attention to what you’re doing, and know that while you’re working it out out in the world, you’re also working it out in your own heart. Listen, breathe, and think about what you’re doing and saying. Everything old is new again–everything comes back around. Let the cycles flow. The Wheel is always turning. Oh, and also, heads up: here be dragons.
This is the season of healing and forgiveness, and choices must be made with that in mind. We are on a journey all together, although we may be called to travel different paths during our lives. Nourish yourselves with what inspires you: the natural world, perhaps, or the stage and screen (or library, or ball field). Find where you get lit up, and go there. And happy Autumnal (or Vernal, if you’re below the equator) Equinox, you darlings! May the new season bring you healing, a plentiful harvest, and bright blessings.
Today’s draw is about relationships and what’s going on in your closest ties. Are those relationships not what you had hoped they would be, or thought they would be? Are you still looking for that one perfect someone who will “get” you? Yeah, ok, that thought needs to go into the Great Grave where all crazy relationship expectations go to die. And it’s possible that the relationships (or the ideas about those relationships) themselves need to go into the great grave as well. It’s time to see things as they really are. Only then can you receive the help your guardian angels (or guides, or Ancestors, or the Noodly Appendages of the Flying Spaghetti Monster) are trying to give you. They can’t help you if you’re running around pretending to be something you’re not. You need to stop, take a deep breath, open your eyes, see the situation for what it is, and let go. And the sooner you do this, the sooner you can get the help you need.
