Mercury Rising

Daily Draw: The Torch and Mercury Rising

Today’s draw is a warning to not rush into anything without checking into it thoroughly first. Make any decisions you need to make after doing your due diligence, not on the spur of the moment. New opportunities and changes are here, but they’re not all good or solid. Some seem like great ideas, but they don’t have the groundedness or experience necessary to be the foundations of a solid life. I read an article from this morning about lessons an entrepreneur learned in starting up his own business and why it was a horrible learning experience for him. His expectations and the expectations of others were all out of whack, and that’s something that everyone needs to examine before starting in on anything new. Focus today on what works best for you and what you need, and let the outside world do its thing on its own for now.

Daily Draw: Mercury Rising and the Crowned Heart

Well, today’s reading is a near-repeat of last Thursday’s energy, meaning whatever we were working through then is still hanging around and needing our attention today. Today is about radical self-love and self-care, and putting as much of our focus as possible on doing the best we can to take care of ourselves — I know it’s difficult amidst other responsibilities and the madnesses of daily life, but it’s very important to do the best we can. We can’t help anybody else if we’re compromised ourselves (it’s that whole “put your own oxygen mask on first” thing). We can be vigilant today in seeking out opportunities to make ourselves healthier and stronger, and it’s also important to realize that there are processes happening already to bring those opportunities to us. Let’s pay attention to the self-talk too, and watch out for where we run ourselves down. There’s been too much of that recently and it needs to stop, please. You’re awesome and doing the best you can with what you’ve got, so start treating yourself with the love you give everyone else.

Daily Draw: Crowned Heart and Mercury Rising

There is so much hope and healing in today’s draw. We are all searching for love and acceptance in life no matter where we’re looking for it, and today’s draw reminds us to not forget to look within. Everything you want for yourself, all the healing and changes you’re working towards, is all being worked out in your heart on various levels. I know this doesn’t help much right now if you’re looking for a new job or new financial resources except that it’s about where you’re looking. Look in places that you haven’t thought of before — places you thought maybe weren’t right for you or that you somehow weren’t right for. That may have been true at the time, but things change. People change. We all can change. Don’t be afraid to ask for the healing you need, either, even if (and perhaps especially if) you’ve asked for and received healing in the past that didn’t completely work (or maybe didn’t work at all). Don’t give up on yourself, and don’t give up on your Unseen Team or their desire to help you.

Daily Draw: Mercury Rising and Spider

By the end of yesterday, I was determined to make today “Have A Donut” Day. I was tired and overwhelmed, and I tend to be an emotional eater. #shock #norly But today’s draw is saying, “No no, children, we mustn’t do that. We know better and must do better for ourselves.” We live in these meat-suits for as long as we’re here, and we need them in order to survive. We have to take care of ourselves, meaning eating well, getting some form of movement in (whether you’re able to run miles and miles or you’re like me and just doing stretching and gentle movements to keep the blood flowing), and turning off the electronics 30-60 minutes before bed to help your mind unplug before sleep. And water. Drink lots and lots of water. We all know these things — they’re inherent wisdom that we connect with intuitively because we’re wired for survival on a basic level and our bodies know what to do. We just have to get the Brain out of the way. It’s also important to engage in safety behavior out in the world: drive carefully, watch the weather, pay attention to what you’re doing as much as you can (that is to say, please put the phones down when you’re walking around and for god’s sake don’t text and drive), and pay attention to that little inner voice that’s trying like mad to help you heal.

Daily Draw: The Dragon and Mercury Rising

Today shows us a lot of sixes: the Dragon is the sixth step in the sixth set of the Oracle, indicating great blessings and a shower of wealth and prosperity, and Mercury Rising is the sixth step of the first set, indicating focus on the material plane and physical health and well-being. But here’s the thing: the Dragon is in the position of How Things Appear To Be (hint: NOT as they actually are), whereas Mercury Rising is in the position of What’s Real And True. Those pesky sixes, three of them, indicate mischief and the potential for great negativity if one isn’t careful (666, anyone?). With today being Oscar Sunday (if you’re into movies and all that Hollywood glamour), it’s pretty clear that the wisdom for today is to be careful about envy and wanting a particular vision of wealth, prosperity, and power that you don’t currently have. The media machine will be going full-bore from Southern California today showing us beautiful people in extraordinary clothes and jewelry, selling us a lifestyle of wealth and privilege that most of us will never achieve in our lifetimes. But it’s just a show. Have fun with it if you like and enjoy the prettiness of it, but remember: it’s just a show. Your own healing and well-being is not tied into what others look like and how much you don’t look like them; and for god’s sake remember that the media will show us what they think we would most like to buy or to have, not necessarily what’s most true. Focus on your own healing and what’s true, and put everything else in its proper place.

Daily Draw: White Queen and Mercury Rising

Today is a day for letting things happen. Relax and stop trying to force it (whatever “it” is for you right now). You need a breather. Rest, shake it out, go do something fun, and just release. You can re-immerse yourself in the battle tomorrow, but for now, there are forces at work that need you to just stop. Your dreams and plans, your destiny as it were, is taking shape, and you need to let it. So go chill. Breathe, release, and maybe get your body moving a little bit if you can, just to shake up the energy you’ve been sitting in for so long. You need to let your angels (gods/beings/higher powers/helpers/ancestors/all of the above) work. I mean, for god’s sake look at all those wings!

Daily Draw: Mercury Rising, Eir (Healing), Hel (Death)

Ok, wow. For real, look at this. Life and healing happens (on the left) and Death and submission to the great unknown happens (on the right). When I was laying out the cards this morning, I had a spread in mind for the general theme of the reading, which in this case is the medicine of Mercury Rising: the card on the left represents what actions we can take, and the card on the right indicates what’s going to happen regardless of what we do. So, yeah. Death happens. It’s going to happen and there’s nothing we can do about it. The Tower charm here comes from the Lenormand system so it means something different than the Tower in the Tarot. Here, it means “Authority,” “Governments,” “the well-established System.” And you can see that it is falling. Structures that have stood for a long time are collapsing, pouring themselves out into the great pool of spirit at Hel’s feet. Everything dies. Everything ends. But the Star at Her head is equally clear: this is not an evil thing. This is not a bad thing. Death is nothing to be terrified of. It is a process, the same as birth is. Recognizing this might make living life more fulfilling for us–which is what the card on the left is about: Eir is the doctor of the Gods, the Medicine Mother who knows how to heal everything just as Hel is the Mother of Death who welcomes us all in the end. We must continue to heal and work toward greater healing for all despite Death in our future (and for some, in our present). And the Hello Kitty! charm encourages us to heal by playing, by engaging and activating our inner child no matter what else is going on. Old ways have great medicine for us, and help us to understand in a way that our modern ways don’t seem to be able to that Death is what happens, and fearing It, fearing Her doesn’t stop Her from coming. It just robs us of the joy and beauty of our lives in the now.
