Today’s draw repeats the same energy from yesterday; it’s still hanging around, that feeling that everything around us is in stasis or is somehow frozen, and that the changes we want can’t come soon enough. The idea today is to get creative in order to change things. Look around. What do you see? Write it all down. Take copious notes of what you see and hear, record the events of the day (people don’t keep diaries enough any more anyway), and pay attention to the small stuff. Break big tasks or concepts down in to something small and manageable. And trust no one’s authority but your own.
Blessed Solstice, friends! Here in the northern hemisphere it’s the winter solstice and we celebrate the return of the light. Today is a day to relax and enjoy being with friends and family. Let yourself play a little if you can. Take deep breaths. Practice laughing. Drink deep, and release fear and regret. Don’t worry about what’s past and gone, especially as regards decisions and choices you’ve made. Let them go and draw strength from the conquests you’ve made over previous demons. Don’t let yourself get lost in nostalgia and daydreams about the past and what might have been. Let it all go and put your energy into facing forward and moving on. You’ve got adventures coming, no matter how impossible they might seem right now. So put your energy into planning and taking the steps you need to take to get ready to move when the time is right. And for now, let your hair down and relax a bit! Take a moment to acknowledge the seasonal shift wherever you are, and raise a glass to your ancestors. Hail, Yule! Or Hail, Midsummer! Hail, Litha! Blessings to you all!
You are doing good work, so keep at it and protect what you’ve created so far. Your ancestors are with you, guiding you and helping you see the path beneath your feet. We are entering a full moon phase, so clarity (or at least some better kind of understanding) is coming. If you celebrate the ritual and spiritual side of Samhain (Halloween), you know that this Saturday evening is New Year’s Eve, and next Sunday the first of November is New Year’s Day. The Wheel is turning and the seasons are shifting from the phase of the sun to the phase of the moon. We are heading into darkness, but it’s a place where our wishes may be granted. Goodness is coming into being, and it’s important to see where our treasures lie. New treasures or treasures that we thought were long gone but have reappeared will be washing up from the depths and coming back to us for a second chance to work with them, so watch for those opportunities and take advantage of them when they arrive.
Today is a good day to take pride in the good you’ve done, to take stock in a good way of all the blessings you’ve won (for lack of a better word). You have been given much, and you deserve much. But remember that everything you’ve been given you merely hold in guardianship for others; you are a protector more than an owner of things. Share what you’ve learned. Give back. Don’t grasp at what you can’t keep anyway. And be careful of using your power and strength in negative ways. Don’t get drawn into family quarrels. Watch out for what you promise when you’re not sober. And for the love of all that’s holy, don’t be a bully. Don’t be a Mean Girl. Give praise and honor where it’s due, and don’t take credit for what you haven’t done.
Ok, yeah. Deep breath here. Talk to the dead, reach out to your ancestors for blessings and gather them up. You are protected by great good fortune, and you need to face those demons. Stand in courage and the strength of what you’ve learned so far, go into the places where your shadows live, and talk to them. You may not get the answers you want, but that’s no reason to be afraid. In fact, being afraid is absolutely the worst thing you could do. Let yourself feel how protected you are from both above and below, and face the dark with courage. Now is an important time to gather lessons from the dying year, to harvest what we’ve sown and to sift through what’s there worth keeping and what needs to go. Get moving.
Good, mystical signs are about today. Keep going, and don’t be mistaken by your circmstances. You may be poor (perhaps), but you are royal. You are empowered. You just can’t see it right now. You can’t see much of anything right now, and that’s ok. Keep moving. Don’t rush–don’t be a mad thing. One step at a time. Just keep going. And don’t ever be afraid that you’re not good enough or somehow unworthy, or that you don’t deserve your triumph. You do. You’ve earned it. More than that: you’ve already paid for it. It’s yours. There’s nothing more you need to do except BE it. Embody victory. Breathe triumph. You are not only a winner, you are the prize.
This is significant: you are becoming your whole, beautiful self, the self you have always been at heart. Old systems and ways of thinking are dying (or are already dead) and are currently composting into the material you’ll need to be born into something new. It’s a process with which you might be uncomfortable–it’s sticky, melty, and gross. But it’s organic and alive, even in death. Keep track of where your thoughts are guiding you during this time, and let all extraneous cluttering thoughts and ideas be cut away. You don’t need them. Focus on your passions, and try your best to not let your addictions overwhelm your feelings. Use what magic you have to stay present and focused.
