Ok, so here’s the thing. The world is a scary place right now. Hell, it’s probably always been a scary place in one way or another. It just seems like there’s a lot floating around right now to worry about, to be afraid of, to try to second-guess your way around. We’re all doing it, just trying to find our way through the morass. Worries are nibbling away at our foundations, and anxiety is high because of course it is. Donald Trump could conceivably become President of the United States in less than a year, and he’s not even the worst candidate for that job. No wonder people want to tune out and listen to John Denver music for the next twelve months. But today’s wisdom is telling us not to surrender to our fears. Do something today. Do anything. Get moving. Let yourself approach old roads and pathways with new eyes because you might have been missing things all this time that will serve you well now if you’re able to start seeing them. Think: beginner’s mind. Think: tabula rasa. Think: starting over is a good thing. Nurture the fire in your heart, your own inner sun, and don’t give in to fear.
Today’s draw is a warning to not rush into anything without checking into it thoroughly first. Make any decisions you need to make after doing your due diligence, not on the spur of the moment. New opportunities and changes are here, but they’re not all good or solid. Some seem like great ideas, but they don’t have the groundedness or experience necessary to be the foundations of a solid life. I read an article from Medium.com this morning about lessons an entrepreneur learned in starting up his own business and why it was a horrible learning experience for him. His expectations and the expectations of others were all out of whack, and that’s something that everyone needs to examine before starting in on anything new. Focus today on what works best for you and what you need, and let the outside world do its thing on its own for now.
Today’s draw is about the shearing away of what is over and gone, and the necessity of sitting in quiet contemplation while it happens. This is a natural process, an organic thing that accompanies changes between one state and another: what went before and was so critical at the time is no longer useful, and in fact may be weighing you down and causing toxic reactions in your new reality. Let it go. Sit down, breathe, and let yourself feel whatever is true at the moment. Do that meditative thing where everything just passes you by. Cling to nothing, and just float in the eternal now.
Today’s draw is about moving on from what’s gone before and putting all your energies into new projects and great new ideas. It doesn’t matter if they are kind of whackadoodle; there are nuggets of learning and wisdom in there, so even if the ideas don’t pan out, you’ll still glean valuable treasures from the experience. You are being directed by that inner voice, the inner Guru who is connected to Source, so take the time to listen. Slow down, let yourself hear what’s being said, and try not to let what other people say get to you. Don’t try so hard to be strong that you end up being brittle and immovable. And don’t try so hard to keep up with the flow of the culture around you that you lose your roots. Relax, breathe, slow down, and listen to the Inner Guru. Follow your own merry tune today, and let others do their own thing.
You are doing good work, so keep at it and protect what you’ve created so far. Your ancestors are with you, guiding you and helping you see the path beneath your feet. We are entering a full moon phase, so clarity (or at least some better kind of understanding) is coming. If you celebrate the ritual and spiritual side of Samhain (Halloween), you know that this Saturday evening is New Year’s Eve, and next Sunday the first of November is New Year’s Day. The Wheel is turning and the seasons are shifting from the phase of the sun to the phase of the moon. We are heading into darkness, but it’s a place where our wishes may be granted. Goodness is coming into being, and it’s important to see where our treasures lie. New treasures or treasures that we thought were long gone but have reappeared will be washing up from the depths and coming back to us for a second chance to work with them, so watch for those opportunities and take advantage of them when they arrive.
So, here’s the thing: during a thunderstorm, the tallest point gets hit by the lightning. It’s not a fun truth, but it’s true nonetheless. Being powerful in your truth can make you a lightning-rod for the fears and anger of others regardless of whether or not you’ve actually done anything to deserve the anger or fear. Other people’s anxiety will become attached to you because you represent what they are not yet prepared to deal with. How you respond is what matters. We here at Muse’s Darling Industries work daily to not take anything personally, not because we are the tallest trees on the hill but because we’re just sensitive to everything that comes and goes around us. If the cashier at the Whole Foods is having a bad day and scowls at us while we purchase our chia seeds, it must be because we somehow did something wrong. Well, no. Actually, that cashier is scowling because s/he is having a scowly day. Same principle applies here: whatever others are going through is what THEY are going through. Just do you today. Be yourself and don’t be afraid. If others get angry or show fear, that’s their thing. Have compassion, sure. In fact, please do have compassion as much as you can for what they’re going through. But don’t take responsibility for it. And if somehow you end up getting struck by lightning after all, let the pieces of you provide fire and goodness for others.
Today’s draw is all about doing the work and getting it done. It’s easy when you’ve been working hard to see only the work, to think it will never end, to think maybe you’re stuck in a certain way of doing things and that’s just how it is. It’s also easy to think that the world is balanced on a good-versus-evil axis, and if something bad happens to you, you must have done something wrong, or maybe somebody’s out to get you, or somehow the gods hate you. But no, They don’t, and it’s not a good use of your brain power to waste time thinking They do, or that somehow They’ve got it in for you, or whatever other processes happen when we go through a run of bad luck. The truth according to this draw is that if you focus too hard on the details, you will lose sight not only of the bigger picture, but also of ways to help and protect yourself that you really need right now. Working hard on this plane translates into working hard on That plane, the Spiritual plane, and doing good for yourself and others Over There translates into doing good for yourself and others on this plane. Divine Justice is not the same as human justice, so don’t expect it to be. Sometimes sacrifices aren’t rewarded on this plane or That one, at least not in the way we’d like them to be, and you have to just let them be “Learning Experiences” in the process of getting the work done. Keep those boundaries up, keep one eye on the skies, and git ‘er done.
